In the beginning it feels like lying on spikes, but after a few minutes it feels as relaxing as a massage. It’s not magic, it’s acupressure – an ancient practice that’s been around for thousands of years. Expect thousands of hours of relief whenever you need it.

What you need to know
• Deeper sleep
• Tension-free muscles
• Calm and focus
• Mental clarity
The most popular way to Shakti is in bed, before sleep. Combining the Mat and Pillow lets you target tension from the back of your neck to the base of your tailbone. Lie with the Shakti Mat under your back and shoulders first, and then place the Pillow under your neck.
Both tools can be used on their own to target tension as you need to. You can also combine them with yoga and meditation – either seated or through in savasana – to help incorporate acupressure into your recovery or wellbeing routine.
20 minutes is all you need for each spike to work its magic. To make it easy, you’ll receive free access to the world’s only acupressure mat app with purchase.
There are two things to consider when looking at intensities:
1. Acupressure is personal
2. Shakti spikes are much sharper than anything else out there.
Like the firmness of a mattress or the pressure of a massage – acupressure is the opposite of ‘one size fits all’. If you go too far in the beginning you’re less likely to build a solid habit. It’s why we offer three intensities that all unlock the benefits of acupressure.
Light
Lying on spikes is weird, so we made this a less intense option. Expect less initial discomfort thanks to more points per spike. Ideal for anyone unsure about acupressure.
Original
For the bold and brave. Fewer spikes = more discomfort, so commit to pushing through to unlock the deeper release on the other side if you are contemplating Original.
Advanced
Our deepest release isn’t the last stop on your journey – it’s only for the most experienced. Expect a serious sensation to start, with plenty of reward if you can handle it.

Will it hurt? Yes. But only for a little in the beginning.
The point to those spikes is that they activate your parasympathetic nervous system – fast. Your body says “Ouch!” and your brain goes into pain response mode.
After a few minutes you realise, “Hey, I’m not actually in pain” – and that’s where the real change begins.
You begin to take advantage of all the serotonin, oxytocin, and feel-good chemicals rushing through your body. The tingling sensation turns into a deep warmth, and tension washes away as acupressure works its magic.
Where acupuncture uses needles to pierce the skin, acupressure uses spikes to press against it. The key difference with a Shakti Mat is that you can activate multiple acupoints in as many seconds as it takes to lie on them, and you don’t need to book an appointment either.
HANDMADE IN THE HOME OF ACUPRESSURE
The first Shakti Mat was handmade in Varanasi, and everything we've done since has been with India in mind. Our craftspeople live, our raw materials are sourced there, and we continue to give back in every way we can.
