To clean the Premium Acupressure Mat, remove the Blissfoam™ and hand-wash the cotton cover in warm soapy water, using a soft brush to clean the spikes. Rinse and hang to dry in the shade. Once dry, re-insert the Blissfoam™, ready for your next Shakti practice.
Store out of the sun, as UV rays can cause the color to fade. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

A little, but only in the beginning.
Each spike responds to tension in your body, so more tension = more sensation. The initial “Ouch!” you feel activates your body’s pain response and tells it to send happiness hormones and pain-relief chemicals to the area you’re targeting. If those spikes aren’t sharp enough – or you’re beyond relaxed already – you won’t feel much.
After a few minutes, the tingling sensation fades into a deep, relaxing warmth. The redness is purely a circulation boost. You might even fall asleep.

My first session involved a bit of #%¥?! for the first minute or so until I began to relax into it. Now the initial discomfort last much less than a minute and for the last few sessions I have fallen asleep only to be awakened by my 20 minute timer! Very chilled and relaxed afterwards. I wonder what the higher levels might be like?

Als beginner heb ik niveau 3 genomen omdat ik vrij veel pijn kan verdragen en heb al op een mat gelegen waarvan ik niets voelde. Met het idee dat ik er altijd een dun doekje kan op leggen. Op mijn mat kan ik (momenteel) niet zonder dun doekje liggen. Maar voel de prikken wel en het geeft mij zeker een rustig gevoel en hoop zo mijn stress niveau naar beneden te krijgen 😊

SMShakti Mat USA12 hours agoHi Roel, thanks for your feedback. No, you're not doing anything wrong. Shakti feels different for everyone. Some people settle into it quickly, while others find it much more intense.
You could try starting with shorter sessions, placing your Shakti on a softer surface to make it feel less intense, and using it over a thin layer of clothing as you gradually build your tolerance.
